Live Action Roleplay is the performance of some predefined character, or role, in an environment with others who are doing likewise. A general plot is supplied but there is no script. The characters interact based on their comprehension of how the role should be played. This is a hobby for me, a means for recreation. The game in which I am primarily involved is NERO-MA (New England Roleplaying Organization) which is based in Ware, Massachusetts.
This page will hold details of game systems, characters I play, groups to which I belong and pointers to a slew of nifty items available on the electronic byways - well eventually anyhow. Although lack of playing has impacted this list.
I joined NERO-MA in May of 1989 after finding a posting by Dave Jodoin in a DEC notesfile. I didn't attend my first event until August of that year as May-July were a bit preoccupied with losing a fair bit of my vision. In August I went to a training day which included modules. The first module was Against the Evil Druids and by the second encounter of the module, I knew this was going to be an extremely addictive hobby.
NERO is an international business which has placed many chapters throughout the United States and Canada. There is a continuous world which applies to all of the chapters and as such characters may transfer from chapter to chapter. As such a unique flavor is applied to the LARP world of NERO and each chapter has varying strengths and weaknesses. Playing at many chapters allows a player to appreciate and learn many such aspects.

Likely this controversial version of NERO will hold some concern as there are many political difficulties between NERO and NERO-Campaigns. I hold no ill will to folks on either side of this issue and although I know it's likely to be untrue, I hope that none is held towards myself. This LARP developed as a full NERO participant and split in the spring of 1998. There are many excellent aspects to both groups, both games and the people that play both games. I have a character that exists in NERO-Campaigns and I'm certain that I could, and hopefully will, enjoy their game when opportunity for travel permits. As I understand it currently, the Alliance has three chapters. Check out their web page which I'm sure will be amont the most commonly maintained and certainly an excellent resource.
A game I'd love to try but as yet haven't attended. Their home page is fairly good!
Ok, LIONE was founded by a group of former NERO players and they are a fine group of people. I did a fair bit of play testing with them and spent two season's as a member. They've learned much and their base seems quite solid. They began their game in 1991 and still run today.
