Notes & Quotes:

10/20/03 - Blocked FG ultimately breaks Patriots Swoon Song in Miami and Tedy's role?
``I saw it before it happened,'' Seymour said. ``When we were out on the field, me and Tedy (Bruschi) were talking and he said, `All right, Seymour, it's a big play for you.' And I was like, if you give me a good push, I'm gonna block it.  The ball was snapped and Tedy gave me a good push and I just blocked it."

3/1/02 - Karen has provided a few links of some note:

2/26/02  From Tedy direct:  Tell all of the "Bruschi Backers" that I truly appreciate all of the support and I just love seeing all of their names on the website.  I hope to see many of you at training camp.  If you see me after practice just say, "Hey Tedy, I'm a Bruschi Backer!"  and I'll be sure to come over and say hi. That's if I'm not totally exhausted after practice.

Most already are aware Tedy Jr. has been stealing the spotlight but some may not be aware there is another boy joining us near to Tedy's own Birthday! - Zip

12/29/01 " Tedy Bruschi is a microcosm of the Pats, an overachiever who keeps making plays
he's not supposed to be able to make." - Bill Reynolds...Providence Journal

12/3/01
Again Folks are going out of their way to praise Tedy Bruschi for his work effort and results.  "That kid is a football player," Belichick says of Bruschi. "He plays on regular downs. He plays some on passing downs. He's on the punt team. He's on the kickoff-return team. He's on our 'hands' team for onside kicks. He's on the field-goal block team.

"You can't say enough about Tedy. You put him out there and, no matter what you ask him to do, he plays well. He'd probably play on offense, if we needed him."
Story in Projo

1/26/01
After the Saints Victory, Coach Belichick went out of his way to twice praise Bruschi:
"I think really that Tedy Bruschi is a little bit of an unsung guy. The last couple of weeks he stepped in there for Ted [Johnson] and Bryan [Cox] and really played well in the middle both in the run and the pass and made a couple of plays last week. I think he has done a nice job"

"I would say that even though Bruschi is playing on regular downs, he is playing some on third down, he is on the punt team, he is one the kickoff return team, you just can't say enough about Tedy. That kid is just a football player. You put him out there and he just plays good no matter what you ask him to do. He would probably play on offense if we needed him."

Bruschi did not play against the Chargers but after the game ensured we in section 116 knew his stance "I'll be back - I'll be back very soon!"

Injured in the Miami Game, Bruschi did return to play but a knee bruise has him listed as questionable for the Chargers game.  All indications including his own quote claim he will play.  Bruschi also quipped that 'the Patriots went down hoping to continue some butt kicking but instead had their butts kicked' - now hopefully they are ready to respond properly.

Tedy Bruschi is the most stable part of the New England Patriots Linebacking Crew.  His hard work ethic, capable signal calling and tenacious play have earned him the starting Weak Side Linebacker position.  Here are several reviews of Bruschi and his corps:

Hello everyone!

Thanks for supporting me so much. It really gets me fired up to know that
there are supporters like all of you out there. I am working out at Foxboro

mike1.jpg (13437 bytes) A fan of my page who resides in CT sent me a picture he took from the Patriots Draft Day party.  It's great to see and hear about the time and attention Tedy is willing to provide for his young fans.  I'm a fan of his play on the field and who isn't a fan of attitudes like this?  Now why young 'Mike' isn't wearing a Bruschi jersey is another matter!

Why do I keep a Bruschi page?  Tedy plays with his heart on the line at all times and he's never quitting.  He's challenged by being a 'tweener,' meaning that he is between sizes for NFL play.  Still he performs at a high level and shows that his constantly running motor and natural ability can overcome that.  I've seen him Bull Rush a 300+ lineman (Boselli) and I've seen him blaze past an OL with his speed.  His coverage needs development and he'll be a starting star for this team. (Achieved)

Early in his rookie season I took note of this man who shares my birthday.  Soon his performanc and effort won our hearts and has been adopted by our section (116) as a fan favorite. He puts his all into every play and that typifies what I respect as well as that quality of which our team needs more.

Personal: Tedy Lacap Bruschi was born on June 9, 1973 in San Francisco, Calif. ... he attended Roseville (Calif.) High, where he lettered twice in football, earning all-conference, all-northern California and all-metro honors as a defensive tackle ... was a two-year captain on the football team ... also earned two letters in track and one in wrestling ... was a standout shot put and discus participant ... wrestled in the heavyweight division ... majored in communications at Arizona ... reportedly married during the summer of '97 to his longtime love Heidi Bomberger. In an interview on Patriots Preview, he told Mike Lynch that he only plays the Sax for her now.

Extra Points: Tedy tied Derrick Thomas' all-time NCAA Division I-A record with 52 career quarterback sacks while leading Arizona's "Desert Swarm" defense. Tedy was among the Arizona players featured on the cover of Sport Illustrated's 1994 college football preview. Tedy enjoys playing the saxophone.

Tedy Bruschi had an eventful occasion last December as his wife Heidi gave birth to their son and future Hall of Famer: Tedy Jr.

Football Cards:

Losing my eyes has put a bit of a damper on my card collection and the Bruschi cards are sadly no exception.

I have managed to collect ten Tedy Bruschi football cards while learning that the books aren't quite up to date on how many such cards actually exist.  I have many duplicates and I'm interested in trading or purchasing cards which I have yet to acquire.   Below is a list of the cards that I have managed to collect as well as those KNOWN to be missing - please email me with any information you obtain - especially if it pertains to my getting a missing card.
