Bruschi Brew 8

          bb8.jpg (101375 bytes)

As always we have to thank Tedy for being the Full Tilt Full Time linebacker.  We are equally thankful to be here brewing his Brew eight years after he joined the team and with many more to come!  This is certainly a fun annual event made all the better by the tradition!  In a moment of sentimental reflection I'd like to thank Brian "Coach" for getting Bruschi's Brewski started and David "Charts" Chartier for his astounding photoshop work on all but the first!

On 7/2/03, we found ourselves off to Incredibrew for the actual Brewing.  We consisted of a smaller crew, a very appropriate 8 folks: Zip, Gene, Michelle, Jeremy, Skyler, Katie, Jim and Dave along with the Golden Child (Ostend).  The crew quickly selected the four elixirs to be crafted: Russian Imperial Stout (mmmmmm Kosak's trampling our tongues), Black Cherry Stout, New England Chestnut and Boston Revere Lager.  The official Rookie, Jeremy, hand ground the ingredients for the Black Cherry whilst the rest of the crew cheerfully utilized modern technology!  Pictures were few as the group dedicated themselves to their craft, there is however this one video which was intended to be a picture:

Our Group Mugshot-video!

Oddly enough there was a significantly larger contingent for Quality Assurance and Beer extraction as we gathered on 7/18/03.  A Friday night certainly aided the cause as most looked forward to a long evening and the arrival of Tedy himself on Saturday.

The Bottling begins!  Believe it or not there is a fair amount of work to begin the process.  All the bottles are washed thoroughly which included an inadvertent Michelle Bath.  The Labels are painstakingly applied and then the tedious task of filling each bottle from our batches.  Gene and Michelle arrived first and were rewarded the first option of brews.  They wisely selected the Imperial Stout and in true professional fashion managed to have an error sufficiently early (the first bottle) to ensure a group toast could start the whole process!  The pictures below tell much of the tale although Bruschi Brew 8 has a year long adventure ahead which hopefully will come to a perfect conclusion in Houston (SB 38).

montywash.jpg (115919 bytes) Monty was allowed to wash some of the bottles - the few which survived the Gene and Michelle onslaught!
genestarts.jpg (167935 bytes) Gene fills the first precious drops of Bruschi Brew!  Jim and Michelle 'help' in the background as all ensure there will be an early Quality Control!
gmjfirstsample.jpg (188542 bytes) Michelle intently tends the samples for our inaugural batch of BB8!
toast1.jpg (215726 bytes) Said first toast provided much enthusiasm!
scjtrio.jpg (161677 bytes) Skler, Coach and Jim on the Chestnut.  Is Jim just following Beer around?
jimjeremy.jpg (140743 bytes) Jim and Jeremy have their bottling process underway.
chartshelp.jpg (155790 bytes) Charts imported help for the bottling as Regina Chartier joined as the official youngest Brewmeister of Bruschi Brew History!
zmctrio.jpg (172236 bytes) Zip harasses Monty and Christianna during their work although Ostend is apparently the larger distraction.
group2.jpg (159146 bytes) The Group Toasts their creation!

It did not quite end there. We made a coaster collection of all the prior labels and while many of us have these for our own, Tedy received a full set and was quite delighted as may clearly be seen in the pictures below!  Thanks to the photography of Super-Sleuth Al Cardoza and the friendship and fandom of Karen "Mrs. B" Cardoza without whom my entire Patriotic experience would be much lessened!  You're pretty darn cool too Tedy!
